Monthly Fundraiser

Found on the campus of James Madison University, Edith J. Carrier Arboretum visitors can enjoy over 3 miles of manicured walking trails through 125 acres of mature Oak-Hickory Forrest. The arboretum’s winding woodland trails are landscaped with Virginia native plants, some rare and unusual including puttyroot and lady’s slipper, both native orchids.  

 

Join us as we enjoy Shinrin-yoku, the Japanese Custom of

Walking in the Forest

 

This custom has been scientifically proven to lower stress hormones, blood pressure, and heart rate while increasing our feelings of well-being.  With the help of your guide, immerse yourself in the sensory experiences and healing scents of the forest trails at the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum in Harrisonburg.  Learn several multi-sensory techniques that make Forest Bathing a mindful and beneficial nature therapy. The walk will also include a contemplative exploration of the labyrinth.   Afterwards, a bag lunch will be provided. 

 

The fee is $40.00, to be paid prior to the event through PayPal or by check (see address above) which includes a bag lunch and a 2-hour immersive experience.
